Rotary Club of Ignacio passed out more than 60 new picture hard-back dictionaries to three classes of 3rd graders at Loma Verde Elementary School. This is part of a 20 year project the Rotary Club of Ignacio along with the other two Rotary Clubs in the city to distribute dictionaries to all 3rd graders in both private and public schools in Novato. Our Club distributes to Novato Charter School and Hamilton Elementary in addition to Loma Verde Elementary School.
The Rotary Club of Ignacio dictionary purchase (of about $2,000) is made through local Rotary International Foundation donations from our Club that a portion (about half) come back to the Club as District Designated Funds to be used for local and international community service and educational projects. The dictionary project is just one of many. The Rotary Club of Ignacio will be redistributing more than $72,000 in District Designated Funds (the highest in the Rotary District 5150) this Rotary year for worthwhile projects like the dictionary distribution to all third graders and an upgrade of the Novato High girls softball complex. Deadline for project submissions is June 1, 2024.
