Wimpy will soon find plenty of hamburgers, local comedians, and a live auction as the Rotary Club of Ignacio announces its first Burger, Brews, and Comedy Night fundraiser and BBQ at the Jonas Center at the Indian Valley Campus of the College of Marin from 6-9 p.m., Saturday, September 24th. Everyone is invited to enjoy this special evening. Early bird tickets are just $100 a person (up until September 10 when they go to $110) with corporate sponsorship tables for 8 for $800 which include VIP seating and special event recognition.
Local comedians performing at the event will be Opener / Host - Jon Lehre; Feature - Phil Johnson and Headliner - Gina Stahl-Haven. Headliner Gina Stahl-Haven is a a Novato resident and San Francisco Bay Area based comic who has been active in the comedy and improv world for 15 years. She is the 2nd place winner of the 2019 San Francisco International Comedy Competition. (the first woman in 36 years and the only woman other than Ellen Degeneres to hold this title). Gina has been featured in the Boston Comedy Festival, Un-Scripted Theatre Company, SF Improv Festival, Hawaii Improv Festival, on the Andrea Savage podcast, and at comedy clubs throughout the country. Frequently recognized for her captivating story-telling, Gina’s real take on life, motherhood, dating, and navigating Costco; combined with her intoxicating stage presence make her irresistible to watch.
“We're putting the "fun" back into fundraising to make this evening memorable.” Michael Spalding, President of the Rotary Club of Ignacio said, “We’ll have great food, great entertainment, and great auction items to round out the evening, all proceeds going to local and international service projects .”
Last year, the Rotary Club of Ignacio gave out an estimated $50,000 worth of grants from anything from tree planting at the College of Marin to local graduating senior college scholarships locally; and internationally from used computers for disadvantaged youth in the Philippines to hygiene kits for needy children in Uganda. Funds for these projects and more come from local sponsors and events like this one.
